Most of the countries that have nuclear power plants have opted for temporary centralised high level radioactive waste management solutions:

  • Japan (Rokkasho)
  • France (La Hague and Cascad)
  • Switzerland (Zwilag)
  • Sweden (Clab)
  • Belgium (Dessel)
  • Germany (Ahaus and Gorleben)
  • United Kingdom (Sellafield)
  • Holland (Habog)
  • Russia (Mayak and Krasnoyarsk)

The modern Habog facility in Holland is the reference model for the Spanish project.
