International collaboration

Enresa cooperates with its peers in different countries and with the international organisations responsible for radioactive wastes.

Sharing and contrasting know-how and experiences at world level contributes to greater technological progress in the search for solutions to radioactive waste issues and to optimisation of the resources invested.

Enresa maintains relationships with the following international organisations:

Commission of the European Union

This is the institution that is responsible for waste management and radioactive facility dismantling activities in Europe.

The following are some of the activities carried out by Enresa in this area:

  • Participation in the research and development Framework Programmes in priority areas: radioactive waste definitive disposal technologies and nuclear power plant safety and subsequent dismantling.
  • Member of the European Cassiopee consortium, made up of six European Union companies in charge of radioactive waste management.
  • Participation in Community Action Plans relating to radioactive wastes.
  • Participation in committees and working groups relating to the radioactive waste transport.
  • Participation in programmes for cooperation and technical assistance to the countries of Central and Eastern Europe.

This organisation, which belongs to the United Nations Organisation, promotes the safe and peaceful use of nuclear technologies.

Enresa collaborates with the IAEA, welcoming scholars and scientists from other countries, carrying out international missions, participating on committees, working groups, review groups and advisory groups and collaborating in research projects.

More than 15 collaboration agreements have been signed with organisations similar to Enresa in other states. Enresa is also part of the Edram association, which brings together the world’s most important national high level waste management entities.
