Development and continuation of the civil works and initiation of the electrical and mechanical assembly of different operating systems.
Request for Approval of the Pre-operational Testing Programme.

Granting to Enresa, by Ministerial Order, of the Provisional Operating Permit for El Cabril for a period of four years.
1996
Granting to Enresa, by Ministerial Order, of an extension to the Provisional Operating Permit for El Cabril for a period of five years.

Granting to Enresa of ISO-14001 Certification for the Environmental Management System by AENOR.
2000
Renewal for Enresa of ISO-14001 Certification for the Environmental Management System by AENOR.
2001
Awarding of the audited company certificate with a favourable report on the Occupational Risk Prevention System.
Authorisation, by Ministerial Order, for operation by Enresa of the El Cabril centralised low and intermediate level radioactive waste disposal facility up to saturation of the storage capacity of its platforms.
Chronology of the project for the El Cabril complementary facility for very low level wastes
2000
The Directorate General for Energy Policy and Mines requests Enresa to draw up a study on a possible storage facility for very low level wastes.
2001
Enresa submits to the Directorate General for Energy Policy and Mines and to the Nuclear Safety Council the options available for the design of a complementary facility for very low level wastes at El Cabril.
2002
Enresa requests a works licence for the construction of the complementary facility from the Town Council of Hornachuelos.
2003
The Town Council of Hornachuelos grants the works licence for the construction of the complementary facility.
Enresa begins those works that do not require authorisation for performance.
Enresa submits to the Directorate General for Energy Policy and Mines a request for authorisation for execution and assembly.
Enresa submits the consultation document on Environmental Impact arrangements to the Ministry of the Environment.
2004
Enresa initiates the construction of the facility Technology Building.
2005
The Ministry of the Environment issues the Environmental Impact Statement.
2006
The Directorate General for Energy Policy and Mines authorises Enresa to begin the construction and assembly of the first specific disposal structure for very low level wastes.
2007
Construction of the first disposal structure is completed.
2008
The Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Trade grants Enresa authorisation for the start-up of the complementary facility, following a favourable report by the Nuclear Safety Council.
October 1st 2008
Enresa initiates the disposal of very low level wastes at the El Cabril complementary facility.
