The control of the authorities

Enresa submits periodic official reports and documents to different authorities, in which its activities are set out and rigorously specified.

The Nuclear Safety Council and the Directorate General for Energy Policy and Mines receive a monthly official report from Enresa in which the activities carried out at the El Cabril facility are described.

The schedule of transport operations is another of the documents that Enresa sends every month to these two organisations, as well as to the Directorate General for Civil Defence, the Directorate General of the Guardia Civil, the sub-delegation of the Government in Córdoba and other responsible entities.

Other organisations, such as the town councils in the area and the regional governments of Andalusia and Extremadura, periodically receive reports and summaries on the activities performed and radiological and environmental surveillance plans.

Enresa also carries out internal and external audits to check that the management systems implemented at El Cabril fulfil the requirements mapped out. The most important external audit is performed by the Nuclear Safety Council, the authority responsible for nuclear safety and radiological protection.
