In 1999 a specific radiological surveillance protocol was implemented with a view to removing possible radioactive sources arising accidentally in industrial activities, this including the participation of Enresa.
Since then, practically all the industries involved in the recycling of metallic materials have joined under this protocol.
"220 radioactive sources have been removed, along with the wastes generated in 7 incidents"
Other organisations involved in this field, such as national authorities and representative trade union organisations, have followed in their footsteps, making the Protocol on the radiological surveillance of metallic materials a refere3nce at national and international level.
Up to the end of 2008, 220 radioactive sources have been removed, along with the wastes generated in 7 incidents.
