Teletherapy equipment

Disused radioactive machinery must be removed as a preventive measure.

This type of equipment includes devices used in the field of medicine for different purposes.

The equipment in question was not outside the legislation but at perfectly regulated installations; nevertheless, they were no longer in use, as a result of which their removal constituted a preventive measure.

Between 1989 and 1991, 11 items of teletherapy equipment were removed.

Since that time it has been established that facilities acquiring equipment having these characteristics should undertake to return it to the manufacturer once in disuse.
