Research Activities at the Mestral Technology Centre

Since it was set up, the Mestral Technology Centre has undertaken several research projects in collaboration with the Rovira i Virgili University.

The most significant studies have been the following:

• Development and integration of a management system for the data generated during the dismantling of the Vandellós I nuclear power plant.
• Environmental and economic characterisation and optimisation of the end of the lifetime of a nuclear power plant by means of life cycle analysis techniques.
• Development of training programmes and tools on the dismantling of nuclear power plants.
• Economic impact of the dismantling of the Vandellós I nuclear power plant.
• Automation of the inspection of radiological measures.
• Phytorestoration of contaminated soils.
• Use of magnomolecules in the decontamination of radioactive liquids.
• Statistical analysis of additional quality control radiochemical measures pertaining to the dismantling of the Vandellós I nuclear power plant.
