Universities and lines of work
The research and development carried out by Enresa has always benefited from the participation of different Spanish universities, the following being among the most significant:
- Polytechnic University of Catalonia (Dept of Chemical Engineering and Land Engineering)
- Polytechnic University of Madrid (University College of Mining Engineers, Industrial Engineers and Highway Engineers).
- Autonomous University of Madrid (Dept of Geology and Geochemistry).
- Complutense University of Madrid (Dept of Metallurgy and Archeometry, Dept of Geodynamics).
- Polytechnic University of Valencia (Dept of Hydrogeology and water resources).
- University of Cantabria (Dept of Hydrology and groundwaters)
- University of Extremadura (Faculties of Physics and Chemistry).
- University of Zaragoza (Faculties of Physics and Geology)
- Rovira i Virgili University (Faculty of Chemistry, Faculty of Economics, Faculty of Law, etc.).
The main lines of activity encompass activities such as the following:
- The characterisation and modelling of processes controlling the behaviour of spent fuel and the separation and transmutation of its radionuclides.
- The characterisation of processes of interaction of the radionuclides present in wastes with the materials containing and isolating them.
- The characterisation of the behaviour of the materials containing and isolating the radioactive wastes.
- The development of complex numerical models of the behaviour of fuel.
- The development of complex numerical models of the thermal, hydraulic and geochemical performance of confinement systems.
- Studies of the interaction of radionuclides with living beings and of the paleoenvironmental evolution of natural systems.
