ENRESA Chair of Environmental Engineering - University of Extremadura
The ENRESA Chair of Environmental Engineering was created in June 2001 with a view to promoting environmental training at university and professional level, based on cooperation between the University of Extremadura and the world of business.
Specifically, the objectives of the Chair are as follows:
- University Extension Courses for students of the University of Extremadura: Course on “Environmental Engineering” aimed generally at educating the students on the main parameters that characterise natural ecosystems, environmental problems relating to civil engineering and the inter-dependence between these infrastructures and the conservation of ecosystems, sustainability and the quality of life and, more specifically, at providing them with sufficient knowledge of ecology and environmental engineering.
- Specialisation Courses for Graduates: Course on Environmental Management in Civil Engineering Works. The objective of this course is double: on the one hand to provide engineers in charge of works or involved in works management in different Civil Engineering specialities with fundamental knowledge of environmental matters and, on the other, to train professionals from other disciplines whose fields of activity might lead them to participate as works management environmental advisors or collaborators in ecological restoration techniques.
- Scholarship grants for the performance of doctorate theses and research into environmental issues.
- Scholarships and travel grants for studies abroad and periods of practical work experience at companies, providing access to industrial facilities for highly rated students for periods of residence as trainees, final year academic projects or doctorate theses.
- Forums for environmental debate.
- Specific seminars and sessions on the management and conservation of ecosystems.
- Conferences and round table sessions on current affairs.
- Annual Monfragüe Prize for Research, awarded specifically to the best study on the Monfragüe National Park, with a view to promoting research work on this National Park and surrounding municipalities.
