Presentation

Enresa implemented its quality management system in 1986, in compliance with the nuclear standards in force.

In 1992 the system was extended to include the entire management of the company, and the criteria of the international quality standard for the industrial sector, UNE-EN ISO 9001, were implemented.

Subsequently, a management system covering environmental demands was established. The environmental management systems complement those relating to quality and have been established at the Enresa work centres.

The quality system implemented at Enresa now meets the requirements of the demanding UNE 73401 standard on quality assurance at nuclear facilities.

Certification

AENOR and IQNet quality certificates

The Enresa management systems are evaluated by independent and accredited certification entities. The Spanish Standards and Certification Association certifies that the Enresa quality management system meets the requirements of the international ISO 9001 quality standard. AENOR also certifies that the environmental management systems implemented at El Cabril and Vandellós I meet the requirements of the international environmental management standard ISO 14001.

Audits and Inspections

Enresa’s activities are externally audited by different organisations, such as the Nuclear Safety Council, which verifies the implementation of the quality management system in accordance with the nuclear standards, and AENOR, which has been overseeing the certification of the Quality System based on the ISO 9000 international standard for the last 16 years. Finally, the Management of the company commissions the performance of independent external audits to organisations with wide experience in the nuclear sector in order for them to verify the implementation of the Quality System.

The internal audits of activities and projects are carried out by highly qualified specialists in nuclear quality. This same team is in charge of the supplier evaluation audits.

Every two years some 40 internal audits are carried out, along with approximately 25 others on different suppliers, this period covering all the projects and activities in which Enresa is involved.

Far-reaching programmes of systematic inspections of activities are performed at the nuclear facilities, fundamentally at El Cabril and during dismantling activities.
