The Enresa Foundation is a non profit-making beneficiary and assistance institution set up by the company in 1990.

In accordance with its Charter, the activities of the Foundation focus on the areas involved in the active management of radioactive wastes, such as those in the vicinity of the El Cabril facility (Córdoba) and the nuclear power plant in the dismantling phase, Vandellós I (Tarragona) and José Cabrera (Guadalajara).

Its activities address three different fields:

  • The rendering of assistance and socio-economic development services, contributing to the welfare of the populations located in the vicinity of Enresa’s centres of activity.
  • Maintenance, conservation and dissemination of the environmental heritage, providing support for programmes and activities in this field. An example of this is the environmental departments set up at certain Spanish universities.
  • Rendering of educational services, promoting training and cultural activities. The objective is to improve understanding and the critical judgement of the populations located in Enresa’s area of activity. In this respect the company collaborates with other public or private institutions in the organisation of courses, exhibitions and other events.

"The activities of the Foundation cover the fields of socio-economic development, the environment, education and culture"

For all its activities the Enresa Foundation pursues the participation and support of other organisations, from town councils, central government regional offices and the governments of the autonomous communities to institutions, entities, associations or groups having similar objectives and purposes.

The institution is subject to the guardianship of the Ministry of Health and Social Policy and governed by the specific legislation on foundations:

  • The Foundations Act, Law 50/2002
  • Law 49/2002 on the tax regime applicable to non profit-making entities, and
  • The Regulation on Foundations of State Competence of February 23rd 1986.
