Basic health unit

The Enresa Basic Health Unit is integrated into the company’s Prevention Service at national level and is provided with the following:

  • A Basic Health Unit homologated by the Regional Government of Andalusia (Health Council of Córdoba), with a Level I Healthcare Centre for the treatment of irradiated and/or contaminated persons at the El Cabril Centralised Waste Disposal Facility (Córdoba).
  • Basic level healthcare centres at the Madrid (Enresa Head Office) and PIMIC work centres in collaboration with the CIEMAT Basic Health Unit (Madrid).

Enresa organises its medical and healthcare capabilities at all its facilities and in all its projects under its own responsibility, for as long as is considered necessary and for such time as the occupational activity so requires.

  • Decommissioning of the Andújar Uranium Mill: The project was supported by an Occupational Health Service throughout all the phases of performance.
  • Dismantling of the Vandellós I Nuclear Power Plant: The project was supported by an Occupational Health Service during its different phases of performance, to which reported the corresponding Level I Healthcare Centre for the treatment of irradiated and/or contaminated persons.
  • Dismantling of the José Cabrera Nuclear Power Plant: Work has been performed since the design phase on the placing in service and homologation by the Autonomous Community of Castilla-La Mancha (Health Council of Guadalajara) of a Basic Health Unit with a Level I Healthcare Centre to cover all the phases of performance of the project.

El Cabril Healthcare Centre

The El Cabril work centre is equipped with a Level I Healthcare Centre to provide medical attention in the event of a possible accident involving radioactive irradiation and/or contamination. In addition, it has a collaboration agreement at national level with the Level II Healthcare Centre at the Gregorio Marañón University Hospital in Madrid.

A clear example of the safety of the El Cabril facility is the fact that this healthcare centre has never had to treat any of the workers. Nevertheless, it maintains its operability and the specialised training of its medical personnel, who participate in all the simulated exercises and official emergency drills proposed.

At the El Cabril work centre there is also daily medical attention in collaboration with the Andalusian Health System.
